The Mies Crown Hall Amer­i­c­as Prize (MCHAP) short­list­ed McDon­ald’s Glob­al Flag­ship Chica­go as one of the 38 ““out­stand­ing”” projects from a list of over 200 nom­i­na­tions for Cycle 4 of the award. Thank you to the jury for this recog­ni­tion. We are hon­ored to be short­list­ed with some of the most breath-tak­ing projects com­plet­ed from Jan­u­ary 2018 to Decem­ber 2021 in the Americas. 

The jury will nar­row down the list of 38 to 6 final­ists and announce the win­ner in Spring 2023. 

“The jury found com­mon­al­i­ty in the typolo­gies and focus among these built works, more specif­i­cal­ly mean­ing­ful­ly con­nect to the sur­round­ing com­mu­ni­ties by employ­ing region­al means and meth­ods to build; exhibit­ing immense respect for their con­text, cli­mate, and envi­ron­ment; cel­e­brat­ing cul­tur­al val­ues in their high­est forms; and address­ing sig­nif­i­cant prob­lems, with excel­lence — cou­pled with an under­stand­ing of the way archi­tec­ture can impact a pop­u­la­tion and ben­e­fit peo­ple in their liv­ing, work­ing and learn­ing environments.”
