Auburn Gresham is writing its next chapter on 79th Street.

Featured in the May/June 2026 edition of The Architect’s Newspaper, Auburn Gresham Apartments shows how architecture can help restore a once-bustling street, bridge generations, and create new possibilities for a neighborhood’s future.

Designed by Ross Barney Architects with Nia Architects, and developed by Evergreen Real Estate Group and The Imagine Group, the project transforms two long-vacant parcels into mixed-use housing shaped through deep community engagement.

With 58 new residences across two distinct buildings, active ground-floor retail, generous outdoor spaces, and a new regional Metra station underway nearby, Auburn Gresham Apartments shows what can happen when investment, design, and community voice come together.

Thank you to The Architect’s Newspaper and Anjulie Rao for spotlighting this project and the people shaping Auburn Gresham’s future.
