O'Hare Multi Modal Terminal Curated Artwork
Art integration for the building was extensive and includes a collection of permanent installations commissioned by the City of Chicago and curated by Theaster Gates.
Amidst the stress and chaos associated with travel, the Multi Modal Terminal is a place of calm and beauty.

REACH features two monumental hands that reach out to one another, that almost but don’t quite touch, suggesting separation or coming together.

Palimpsest by Nick Cave
Palimpsest is a vast, multistory tapestry, beaded and bustled, that reveals layers and layers of color, like an old billboard that over time, weathers, and reveals the history beneath.

Field Lines by Rob Ley
Visitors are greeted by a representation of dynamic air currents that oscillate between stable and turbulent conditions that often impact air travel.
Horizon Light by James Carpenter
Flight, travel and time are evoked by an array of 196 color-anodized ellipses with programmed lighting. Inspired by the scattered atmospheric colors of twilight, the artwork speaks to the experience of arrival and departure, and to the cycles of light from dawn to dusk.
