Metra Auburn Park Breaks Ground

Last week, our design for Metra Auburn Park broke ground. Locat­ed in Auburn Gre­sham, the project was designed as an urban park­way, with a tree-lined plaza serv­ing as an entry­way to the new sta­tion. Sit­ting between a qui­et neigh­bor­hood and a heav­i­ly traf­ficked cor­ri­dor, the site is designed to pro­vide a thought­ful green space with strong ties to the community.

​“Today’s announce­ment is about redress­ing his­tor­i­cal imbal­ances and doing right by an under­served com­mu­ni­ty in an untapped mar­ket,” Collins [Sen. Jacque­line Collins] said. “…The peo­ple of Auburn Gre­sham and adjoin­ing com­mu­ni­ties deserve this oppor­tu­ni­ty, and the peo­ple of Chica­go deserve a pub­lic tran­sit net­work that knits our city togeth­er, enables move­ment and growth and leaves no one behind.”

With­in blocks of this new sta­tion will be our hous­ing devel­op­ments along 79th Street as part of May­or Lori Lightfoot’s INVEST South/​West.
