Fermilab Illinois Accelerator Research Center
CLIENT FermiLab, Batavia, IL
PROGRAM 43,000 square feet
COST $15.5 million
STATUS Complete 2013

The new Illinois Accelerator Research Center (IARC) at Fermilab is intended to provide a research and development facility at Fermilab that establishes Illinois’ world leadership in accelerator science and technology.

The new 43,000 square foot building consists of three main elements: an Office, Technical and Educational (OTE) building, the existing CDF high bay building for accelerator research, and parking to serve the facility.

Goals for the new facility include the creation of a high profile building that respects the Fermilab design theme but one that makes a dramatic statement. The new building seeks to attract new physics projects and researchers through state of the art computing and video capabilities and flexibility to accommodate rotating tenants.

The new facility will achieve a LEED Gold rating through the careful use of limited natural resources.
