Chicago Riverwalk: Under Construction

Sasaki Associates documents progress made on the Chicago Riverwalk and discusses the projects impacts with Design Architect Carol Ross Barney and Project Architect Ryan Giblin. “The lesson to learn here is that cities should look at their land and try to create new uses for areas where the original uses have gone” – Carol Ross Barney, FAIA (Design Architect).

“Reclaiming the unused space for the public is a great idea. It works well because its a dense area and I think it will be really successful because of the density. That isn’t to say that cities that arent as dense couldnt use post industrial spaces and reclaim them for public use” – Ryan Giblin (Project Architect).

“As part of Mayor Emanuels vision to make the City of Chicago a better place to live work and play, the Riverwalk is something that makes us more competitive with other cities” -Michelle Woods, Department of Fleet & Facility Management.
