In recent months, the Chicago Riverwalk has been honored for its urban transformation and design vision.

Below is a highlight of the many accolades:
Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence 2017 Silver Medal
“The 2017 RBA medalists illustrate the transformative power of design in creating places that bring people together and lift the human spirit” said Rudy Bruner Award founder Simeon Bruner.

2017 International Lighting Design Award
Jury comments: “Lovely – Nicely done – The lighting allows each space to have a distinctive look and feel, yet weaves the entire project together.”

2017 Urban Land Institute Global Awards for Excellence Finalist
“Each of these finalists demonstrates a thoughtful, innovative approach to urban development that is adding to the sustainability and livability of the communities in which they are located,” said Wendy Rowden, Global Awards jury chairman and president, 42nd Street Development Corp., New York City. “The attention paid to project detail, flexible design, and neighborhood context were among the factors making these entries stand out. They represent the type of development that will withstand the tests of time and change.”

2017 Blue Ribbon Award – Friends of the Chicago River
“The top prize, the Blue Ribbon Award, was bestowed upon the Chicago Riverwalk which has become one of the hottest destinations in the city and provides people an opportunity to enjoy the river from close up, ‘Now people no longer need to look down at the water,’ Frisbie continue. ‘They can get close and enjoy the river’s magic and majesty at the same time they start to better understand some of the complex issues we face in cleaning it up.'”
