“More than 400 Chicagoans, representing a wealth of diverse perspectives, are serving on 10 transition committees that are helping shape Mayor-elect Lightfoot’s administration as she prepares to take office on May 20th. Committee members are reaching out across Chicago, gathering fresh viewpoints from our city’s rich and diverse communities.Their recommendations will be published in a transition report, which will be made available on this website and distributed to all Chicago public libraries.”
As stated in the Committee’s charge: “Transportation is the great connector of our city. Whether Chicagoans are going to work, going to school, visiting friends, or going to a community center – a high-quality, reliable, accessible, safe system is critical to social mobility and economic vitality. Chicago is a hub for moving people and goods, driving business development and job creation. Its location and infrastructure link Chicago to the rest of the nation and the globe.”
